Remodel power

I haven’t been very good at giving updates on the
remodel of our house
.
I’d better get it in quick or they’ll be done.
But today the net would have noticed because the electrian
pulled the plug on the whole house while he re-wired the
electrical panel. Desktop and server don’t work too good
without electricity.

Well, the new electrical panel is in place. Now we have to
wait for the power company to update the house panel.

Trip to Princeton

The pictures of my

trip to Princeton University

are up. A very pretty campus in the spring.

The lawn is mowed

I was sitting there reading blogs and prograstinating doing yard work when I ran across
Busy Mom’s entry saying how much

she enjoys mowing the lawn

and she even included a picture of her completed job.

Sigh. I guess I should do my lawn… and here is a picture of my completed mow.
Maybe this Memorial Day weekend, everyone that mows a lawn should put up a picture of their mowing. Celebrate suburbia in this great land.

More Quizes

I am not a regular quiz taker but I seem to be bitten by the bug and as
was said at
Living Reflections
there are times when there is so much work to do, that the only response
is a few quizes. So, two quiz results:

Being sucked dry by leeches isn't so bad.
You will be sucked dry by a leech.
I’d stay away from swimming holes, and stick to good old cement.
Even if it does hurt like hell when your toe scrapes the bottom.

Heat and humidity in Portland

We did our
Saturday run
this morning.
It was 10 miles which is long but not terrible.
The worst part was the heat and humidity.
Now people from places that really get hot (Phoenix, …) will roll their eyes and think we’re wimps over here,
but getting into the 70s is hot for us folks living in the wet and rainy
Willamette Valley
.

And the weather has been warm and humid.
We don’t get suck-the-water-out-of-you dry and we don’t get take-a-shower-and-never-get-dry wetness.
It’s rather pleasent around here.
Usually.
We just don’t get hot (80s) and humid days in May in this place.
But that’s what we’ve been having.
Something is going on with the weather.

Travelling to the East

I’m travelling to Princeton, New Jersey for a few days. It’s like visiting a different country. I grew up on the west coast and have lived there my whole life and I’ve never spent any time anywhere on the east coast — I’ve visited a time or two but I’ve never wandered around the countryside.

There are more desciduious trees (in the
Pacific Northwest
we have more evergreens.
Why is it that people look different, in general? People in an east coast airport look “different” than people on the west coast.
Why is that?

Pictures coming soon.

Dogwoods are in Bloom

It’s spring around here and the Dogwood trees are
blooming up a storm,

Only Parent

I just put my wife on a plane… she’s off to run a marathon on the other side of the country. That leaves me to run the house for the weekend. It’s Thursday morning and I’m trying to get the kids up and get the day going around here. Little logistic things: clean house, money for the roofers (a remodel update is coming soon, I promise) and a situation for the dog.
All this with cats walking on me.

I’m off to poke the kids again and get them to school and me off to work.
