A bus tour through the "pads" showed up the shuttle Atlantis
on the pad (it was leaving in a week or so) while the other
shuttle had been removed because of woodpeckers (this was just
after the woodpeckers began nesting in the external tank
insulation).
This is looking back at the shuttle "garage". This building
is REALLY big. The two brown roads in the foreground are the
tracks for the shuttle transport -- each road is for
one tread.
This is the monument to the astronauts that have lost their
lives in the space program. It is a large black slab with
the names etched through. A mirror is behind the slab and
motors move the slab and the mirror to have the sun shining
through the names all day.
A space shuttle was set up for viewing. Like I said, everything
is big here.
The two women on the right are standing on the "second floor"
ramp and looking into the shuttle bay. It's bigger then it
looks from a distance.
